Puckett Observatory is a private Georgia observatory owned by Tim Puckett, focused on comet research and especially supernova discovery. It serves as the base of the Puckett Observatory World Supernova Search, an international amateur collaboration begun in 1998 that has found 369 supernovae using robotic telescopes and volunteer image comparisons. The observatory’s main telescope, a custom-built 60-centimeter Ritchey–Chrétien brought online full-time in 1997, ranks among Georgia’s largest. Its work has contributed notable findings, including several Type Iax supernovae and the rare detection of two supernovae in one galaxy, showing how a privately operated observatory and volunteer network can advance observational astronomy.
