Giiwedinong Treaty Rights and Culture Museum in Park Rapids, Minnesota, opened in 2023 as a center for Native history, treaty rights, and cultural expression, with a focus on Anishinaabe and Dakota communities. Described as the first museum in the state managed by Indigenous peoples, it presents Indigenous history and culture through an Anishinaabe worldview while linking historical treaties to present-day issues such as environmental justice, stewardship, and public policy. The museum also serves as a venue for Anishinaabe artists, storytelling, and community voices. Its building, originally a Carnegie-funded library built in 1908, was acquired in 2022 by Akiing and adapted to give the site a new role as a public forum on Native culture and sovereignty.
