Bamberg County includes Ehrhardt Hall, a restored 19th century mansion in the town of Ehrhardt that operates as a bed and breakfast with six guest rooms and fireplaces; the Olar Sinclair Station, opened by Rubye Morris in 1929 and renovated into a welcome center with community exhibits; Denmark Depot, tied to the town's railroad history since the South Carolina Canal and Railroad tracks passed through in the 1830s and now serving as an active Amtrak passenger station with exhibits on the town and railroad; the Hooten-Black House, a c. 1880s house at the northwestern end of the Bamberg National Register Historic District, which includes more than 50 historic structures; Rivers Bridge State Historic Site, the only state historic site commemorating the Civil War, where Confederate breastworks mark the location of a fierce battle between Union and Confederate armies on February 2-3, 1865; Broxton Bridge Plantation, dating from the late 18th century and held by one family for nine generations, now offering lodging and outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, shooting ranges, and its own Civil War battle site; and Voorhees College, founded in 1897 by Elizabeth Evelyn Wright as a private, historically black, coeducational liberal arts baccalaureate institution affiliated with the Episcopal Church, with a historic district of 13 buildings dating from 1905-1935.
