On the 12th of April 1870, Manomin County was admitted to Anoka County. At that time the name was changed to Manomin Township and later to Fridley Township. This Anoka County Park was formally dedicated 'Manomin' on the 6th of February 1973 by the Anoka County Board of Commissioners: Mike O'Bannon, 1st District; Edward Fields, 2nd District; Robert C. Burman, 3rd District; Albert A. Kordiak, 4th District; and LeRoy H. Johnson, 5th District.
