Gid Tanner and the Skillet Lickers were pioneers of recorded traditional stringband music. Tanner lived in Dacula from 1922 to 1960 and recorded from March 1924 until March 1934. The group’s million seller instrumental “Down Yonder” was recorded for RCA Victor in 1934. They were inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 1988.
