The Chesser-Williams House, built in the 1850s, is one of the oldest surviving homes in Gwinnett County. Originally two rooms wide and one room deep, it is an I-house. It is notable for beautiful hand-painted folk art on both the exterior and interior, making it one of the only surviving examples of exterior painted decorations in Georgia and perhaps the South. The artwork was created by an unknown traveling German painter in exchange for room and board. The house was on property owned by Sue and Gerald Williams and was moved from its original site six miles away.
