The Ashland Baseball Hall of Fame at CP-1, founded in 2015, recognizes people whose baseball experience in the area reached a very high level and made them positive examples for those who followed. The 2019 inductees were Dick Fillmore, a crafty Tomcat shortstop and pitcher and all-around athlete in the late 1950s who played college baseball at Greenbriar Military Academy; Mike Johnson, a member of the 1963 Ashland American Little League state champions and the 1969 Tomcat state runners-up who later coached many successful seasons in Ashland Babe Ruth and led several All-Star teams to state bids; Ed Joseph, a star third baseman and pitcher on CP-1 youth league fields and for Fairview High School who went on to Eastern Kentucky University and earned all-OVC status; Ed Radjunas, who threw the first pitcher in Ashland Little League history in 1955, started three years at third base for the Tomcats from 1961 to 1963, played at Marshall, and coached American Legion Post 75 in 1968 and 1969; Frank Sloan, an outstanding Tomcats coach in several sports, including baseball, where he directed two regional championship teams; Darryl Smith, an excellent left-handed Tomcat pitcher in the late 1970s who also hit well and later played at Cumberland College; Tobey Tolbert, a state champion hurdler and youth league baseball star who played only his senior high school season in 1967 and helped complete the second of three state championship teams; Robert Wright, a late 1950s all-around athlete regarded as one of the best hitters and overall players of his era who later taught many CP-1 stars; T.R. Wright, a pioneer youth league coach who helped establish Ashland's first Babe Ruth League and first American Legion team; and Herb Conley, better known in Ashland for football but also a sturdy third baseman and pitcher in the late 1950s and a tremendous all-around athlete.
