Black Rock Desert Wilderness is a protected wilderness area in Nevada occupying the east arm of the Black Rock Desert playa, between the Black Rock Range and the Jackson Mountains in a broad basin-and-range desert landscape. Covering 314,829 acres, it is managed by the Bureau of Land Management within the larger Black Rock Desert–High Rock Canyon Emigrant Trails National Conservation Area. Its greatest significance is its scale: it is the largest designated wilderness area in the United States managed solely by the Bureau of Land Management, and the largest one not located within a National Forest, National Park or Preserve, or National Wildlife Refuge.
