The first adobe schoolhouse of the Soledad School District was built in 1869 near Ravenna and served the children of miners and ranchers across a 2,500-square-mile area. A later schoolhouse, built in 1870, was destroyed by flood in 1880. The present brick schoolhouse was built in 1890 and was later relocated.
