Little Giant Peak is a 13,417-foot mountain in Colorado’s San Juan Mountains, near Silverton in San Juan County and west of the Continental Divide. Though its name suggests otherwise, it rises steeply from the surrounding landscape, standing more than 1,200 feet above Silver Lake in half a mile and 3,050 feet above Cunningham Creek within a mile. Its runoff flows into tributaries of the Animas River. The name has appeared in publications since at least 1901 and has been officially recognized by the United States Board on Geographic Names. The peak lies in an alpine subarctic climate with snowy winters, summer thunderstorms, and year-round precipitation.
