The Circus Ring of Fame honors outstanding circus performers, owners, and animal trainers. It was founded in 1986 by Larry Marthaler, Executive Director of the Sarasota Convention & Visitors Bureau from 1982 to 1998. Its wagon wheel symbol was designed by artist Frank Hopper with research assistance by circus historian John Lentz.
