The Grand Army of the Republic memorial was erected by H. M. Brown Post No. 146 in memory of comrades who had formerly been residents of Columbus, Otsego, Hampden, York, Elba, and Calamus and who now fill unknown graves, recalling their service and loss in the war of 1861–1865.
