This French Creole house, originally built between 1830 and 1840, stood along the east bank of the Mississippi River in Convent. It was moved on May 19, 1999 onto property donated by Kaiser Aluminum. The heirs of the Sardegna family donated the house to St. James Parish for its preservation and for the enjoyment of those who visit the community, and it was dedicated on July 7, 2001.
