Gore Mountain
Nature
Gore Mountain rises in the remote, uninhabited area of Avery's Gore in northeastern Vermont, about 6 miles south of the Canada–US border with Quebec. It stands within Vermont’s unusual system of gores and grants, county lands outside any town that often have little or no local government. Black Mountain lies to its northeast and Middle Mountain to its northwest. The mountain is also a notable regional drainage divide: water from its north and northwest slopes flows through Quebec toward the Saint Lawrence and its gulf, while its other slopes drain into the Nulhegan and Connecticut river system on the way to Long Island Sound. Its prominence places it among the New England Fifty Finest.
