Mount Redfield is a 4,606-foot Adirondack High Peak in northern New York and the state's 15th-highest summit, located near Cliff Mountain and Mount Skylight in the town of Keene. Surveyor Verplanck Colvin named it for William C. Redfield, who organized and joined an 1837 expedition to Mount Marcy and was the first to suggest that Marcy was the highest summit in the Adirondacks and New York. Its recorded climbing history begins in 1894, when guide Ed Phelps reached the summit with an unnamed guest. With no maintained trail, it remains a classic backcountry objective and an important goal for hikers pursuing the Forty-Sixer challenge.
