Mammoth Cave Railroad Bike & Hike Trail
Transportation
15
Long before Mammoth Cave National Park was established, Glasgow Junction, now Park City, worked with the private owners of Mammoth Cave and other nearby caves to share the region with travelers. They were linked by mutual financial interest, family relationships, community ties, and the Mammoth Cave Railroad, a modest spur line. That legacy of cooperation and hospitality lives on in the reopening of the old railroad corridor as a historic path through this hilly country, though the exact railroad route could not be fully duplicated because state and park roads were developed after the railroad closed.
