Quaddick State Park in Thompson, Connecticut, occupies the 203-acre Middle Quaddick Reservoir and serves as a public recreation area focused on boating, swimming, fishing, picnicking, and a short hiking trail. The land was originally part of the larger Quaddick State Forest, but in 1951 it was separated and recognized the following year as a developed state park. Earlier, this tract on Town Farm Road along Poor Farm Brook had been Thompson’s town farm, where indigent and elderly residents were cared for. Its importance lies in that transformation from municipal care land into protected public open space within the Quaddick reservoir system.
