Mount Lindsey is a 14,053.2-foot summit on the Sierra Blanca Massif in Colorado’s Sangre de Cristo Range within the Rocky Mountains, located in the Sangre de Cristo Land Grant about 10.8 miles north of Fort Garland. Long known as Old Baldy, and also called Baldy and Old Baldy Peak, it was renamed in 1954 to honor Malcolm Lindsey, a beloved chaperone for the Colorado Mountain Club’s Juniors in the 1940s. As one of Colorado’s fourteeners, it holds an important place in the state’s mountaineering landscape while linking southern Colorado’s geography with a small part of the club’s history.
