Ellingwood Point is a 14,054.9-foot summit in the Sangre de Cristo Range on the Sierra Blanca Massif in southern Colorado, near Blanca and on the divide between the Rio Grande and San Isabel national forests. Counted among Colorado’s fourteeners, it only narrowly meets the state’s common prominence standard for an independent peak, and its status has long been debated because of its closeness to Blanca Peak. Most authorities recognize it as a separate summit. The mountain was named for mountaineering pioneer Albert Russell Ellingwood, with the name adopted in 1972; Ellingwood Peak is an earlier recorded form.
