Spann was an early crossroads settlement instrumental in the development of Pierce Township, located at Dutch Creek and Ten Mile Road. The hamlet consisted of a community water well, a general store and post office established in 1860, and the Ten Mile Presbyterian Church, which stood from 1912 to 1943. The community provided a social forum for area farmers and residents, and the intact general store still stands as a visual reminder of Clermont County’s past.
