A big chain with one-inch links and a length of fifty feet was probably used by the Wreck Train to pull derailed equipment closer to the track. Once a wrecked car was close enough, the "Big Hook" crane could grab it and lift it back onto the tracks or onto a waiting flat car to haul it away. Joe McCann of Maysville donated it in honor of his mother Jane and his father Joseph U., a retired Bessemer dispatcher with thirty-seven years of service.
