Nieckarz in France in 1944; Silvio Pipino in Germany in 1945; and Russell F. Schermerhorn in the Philippine Islands in 1945, followed by a prayer asking Almighty God to help those who carry on recognize the folly and tragedy of war, fill their hearts with love for their fellowmen, and guide the world into lasting peace so that the supreme sacrifice of the dead would not have been in vain.
