During World War II, the Village of Franklin dedicated this memorial in memory of local boys who gave themselves in defense of their country to perpetuate for the future the ideals of a free democracy. Those remembered were Lyman Barkalow, Frohman R. Barnhart, Robert T. Black, William Black, Thomas N. Bridge, Wendell Brown, Clifford W. Bruce, Melvin Bruce, Joseph F. Burns, David Campbell, Otis Chilton, Orvin Frisby, Thorhornton Garner, Arthur Garrison, Robert L. Garrison, Charles E. Greenup, Walter Hannah, Eugene Helton, Kenneth Helton, Paul Hemmer, Joseph Hineline, Nathan Kllon, Lt. J. Charles Hopper, William T. MgCabe, Howard Mangan, Cecil Mann, Russell Lee Mentz, Wm. E. Montgomery, Carl Morgan, Charles H.
