The world's first Sri Chinmoy Peace Blossom Sri Chinmoy Peace Bridge united Cumberland, Sri Chinmoy Peace Town, and Central Falls, Sri Chinmoy Peace City. It was dedicated April 24, 1989 by Cumberland Mayor Francis R. Stetkiewicz and Central Falls Mayor Carlos A. Silva, and rededicated August 12, 1997 by Cumberland Mayor Francis A. Gaschen. Sri Chinmoy, born August 27, 1931 in Bengal, India, came to the United States April 13, 1964. Until his passing in 2007, he offered his message of peace to all through his prolific creativity in literature, music, art, and sports.
