Elgin House was placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior. In grateful memory of Van Keith Anderson, the engineer who developed and restored Elgin House Apartments, it notes his life from Nov. 4, 1921, to Jan. 11, 1986. The property also records the Elgin Hotel's 1886 date, its restoration in 1976, and its 100th anniversary in 1986.
