Tulsa Air and Space Museum and Planetarium preserves and presents Tulsa’s aviation heritage on the grounds of Tulsa International Airport. Opened in 1998 and relocated in 2005 to Hangar One, with a planetarium added in 2006, it traces the city’s aviation story from early flight through wartime production, commercial airlines, and links to the space program. Exhibits highlight pioneer Duncan A. McIntyre, Tulsa’s original art deco airport terminal, and memories of Pearl Harbor survivors, while the collection includes rare historic aircraft. A distinctive section also recalls Israeli Air Force technical trainees who studied in Tulsa in 1949 before returning home as certified mechanics.
