Cooper Lake State Park, renamed Cooper State Park in 2025, is a 3,026-acre Texas state park about three miles south of Cooper on Jim Chapman Lake in northeast Texas. Managed by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, it is split into the Doctors Creek unit on the north side of the lake and the South Sulphur unit on the south. The area was home to Caddo people until the 1800s, then became farmland and livestock country. The reservoir was created between 1986 and 1991, the park opened in 1996, and the lake was renamed in 1998. Its setting at the meeting of the Tallgrass Prairie and Post Oak Savannah supports diverse wildlife and recreation.
