The Southwest Dairy Museum in Sulphur Springs, Texas, preserves the history and importance of the dairy industry, especially in Hopkins County and rural communities where dairying shaped both work and daily life. Efforts to save artifacts and historical records began in 1982, and the museum opened in 1991. In a 10,000-square-foot facility, it houses exhibits on everyday farm life, milk production, cream separation, and dairy farming before rural electrification. It also serves as headquarters for Southwest Dairy Farmers activities and extends its educational mission through the Mobile Dairy Classroom Program, which brings information about dairy farming to schools, fairs, livestock shows, and other public events.
