Sunday school and cottage prayer meetings began in 1889. In 1890 the church was organized and admitted to the Annual Conference, George Strickland was elected steward, and services were held in the schoolhouse. In 1894 services were held in the Presbyterian Church. In 1907 a Baptist church building was purchased for $300, with Hilton Moore, Clinton Strickland, and L.L. Parker serving as trustees. In 1948 the present building, built in 1922 and used as a school, was purchased.
