Turner Falls is a 77-foot waterfall on Honey Creek in the Arbuckle Mountains near Davis, Oklahoma, and is locally considered the state's tallest waterfall. Named for Mazeppa Thomas Turner, a Scottish immigrant farmer who settled nearby in 1878 after marrying Chickasaw woman Laura Johnson, the site had already been used for recreation by 1868, when it lay in Pickens County of the Chickasaw Nation. Now the centerpiece of the 1,500-acre Turner Falls Park, the falls feed a natural swimming pool and anchor a landscape of trails, caves, and geological features. Davis acquired the park in 1919, and the area remains a major but sometimes dangerous attraction.
