Water is the attraction at Chickasaw National Recreation Area, where springs, streams, and lakes offer shaded coolness, swimming holes, wading, swimming, fishing, motorboating, and skiing. Little Niagara and Rock Creek draw waders and swimmers, Veterans Lake attracts anglers, and Lake of the Arbuckles provides opportunities for motorboating, skiing, fishing, and swimming. Summers are hot and humid, with temperatures above 100ºF and humidity often exceeding 50 percent, while winters are mild with rare prolonged freezes, and thunderstorms are common from April through July.
