The Third Fort Lauderdale, named in honor of Maj. Wm. Lauderdale, Cmdr. Tenn. Vol., was built in 1839 under the command of Captain William B. Davidson during the Second Seminole War. It was first erected by the Himmarshee Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution in 1929 and restored in 2005.
