The Museum of the American Quilters Society opened on April 25, 1991. Meredith and Bill Schroeder dedicated the facility to promote, preserve, and perpetuate quilting. Paducah, Kentucky, home of the American Quilters Society, is visited by thousands of quilters annually, and Mayor Gerry B. Montgomery proclaimed the city Quilt City USA.
