Manzano Mountains State Park
Nature
Manzano Mountains State Park is a small New Mexico park on the eastern slope of the Manzano Mountains, about 16 miles north of Mountainair. Covering 160 acres, it offers camping, bird-watching, hiking, and photography in a quieter part of the range. The land and easement rights for an access road were bought from the Candelaria family for $32,000 in 1973, creating the park. Geologically, the Manzano Mountains are part of the same larger feature as the Sandia Mountains to the north. The park remains a modest foothill destination valued for scenery, wildlife, and access to a more remote part of central New Mexico.
