Van Buren State Park is a 400-acre public recreation area on Lake Michigan about four miles south of South Haven in southwestern Michigan. Established in 1966 after the state purchased 167 acres from the Harry LaBar Drake family in 1965, it later grew through additional land acquisitions to its present size. Managed by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the park is known for its forested sand dunes and swimming beach. With a 220-site campground, picnic areas, a playground, and access to Van Buren Trail State Park, it serves as both a lakeshore destination and a base for inland outdoor recreation.
