Thompson's Corner Saloon - 1902
History
5
In 1902, Henry "Old Man" Studer and his brother Jim built this community gathering place. Studer, proprietor of the oldest bar in Solano County, relocated that bar here. Upstairs, dancing and entertainment were offered, and local lore holds that a brothel was among them. On 11-20-26, the San Francisco Orchestra played for an all night dance. Charles Thompson owned the building sometime after 1940. The two story clapboard saloon, on the Suisun Marsh, is the only commercial establishment still doing business in central Cordelia and remains the social center of Cordelia, where anybody who is anybody in the Bay Area has been to Thompson's Corner.
