The Perry Church of Christ congregation was established in 1837 and first met in Nicolas Hobbs home. In 1839, the first church building was constructed on this site, followed by a second, larger building in 1853. In 1880, a third and larger carpenter Gothic Revival style building was constructed here and housed the congregation into the twenty-first century. In 2006, the landmark structure, noted for its architectural design and detail, was listed in the National Register of Historic Places. In 2014, the 1880 building was struck by lightning and destroyed by fire.
