The devastating Labor Day Hurricane of 1935, a Category 5 storm with 200 mph winds, obliterated Long Key in the Middle Keys, took over 600 lives, destroyed 40 miles of track, and swept away the rescue train with engine 447. This passenger car, built in 1919, was found on its side on the tracks at Pigeon Key and was later moved to Crane Point Hammock, the original site of Marathon's 1910 railway station.
