Originally platted to Anson Taylor by President Martin Van Buren in 1840, this property was sold to William Pratt in 1854 and was part of Plattsburg by 1856. In 1866 it was sold to John Schuet, who pioneered Muskego Beach. In 1925 the Muskego Beach Amusement Company acquired the property, subdivided it into the Muskego Beach Park Addition, and designated it as lots 19, 20, and 21. The original buildings were constructed in 1938 and operated by Gilbert and Grace Russe as a seasonal soda fountain and general store with a year-round home. In 1946, childhood friends Paul "Mus" De Angelis and Hugh "Russ" McGrorty, returning from service in World War II, bought the property with the first V.A. loan issued in Wisconsin and opened a restaurant that began with homemade custard, burgers, and hot dogs before becoming the Big 3 Drive-In. In 1953 they invented the genuine Pizza-Burger sandwich, launched its franchising and seasoning business, and eventually saw it sold coast-to-coast, including Canada, with more than 1500 accounts at one point serving it. The family-owned business operated from a one-room structure built around an original outdoor barbecue area, and the Big 3 Drive-In flourished through the 1950s and 1960s as a popular gathering place for locals, visitors, cruisers, and musicians. In the mid 1970s, Paul bought out Russ and changed the drive-in into the family-style Muskego Restaurant, which operated until 1993. After the property was sold, it housed a butcher shop, day care, and floral boutique, while Pizza-Burger System, Inc. remained part of Muskego under the second and third generations of the De Angelis family.
