The Carnegie Arts Center served as a public library from 1916 to 1968. The building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior on January 7, 1993, and was dedicated on April 29, 1993 by Eldora Parlor No. 248 Native Daughters of the Golden West.
