Baker House was the home of Senator David Hume Baker and his wife Mary, who moved from Kentucky, where he had served as a state senator. He also served as a Florida senator for Marion and Sumter Counties and was a bank investor, county commissioner, and orange grower. The house has stood for over 100 years and has been home to six generations of the Baker family, while also serving as the post office for Orange Home, the community's name in 1890. Although the area around it has changed, the house remains a testament to earlier craftsmanship and a piece of Sumter County history. The Baker family donated the home and property to the City of Wildwood in 2012.
