Mount Marshall is a 4,360-foot High Peak in the MacIntyre Range of the Adirondacks, within the High Peaks Wilderness of Adirondack Park. Its first recorded ascent, on August 13, 1921, by brothers Robert and George Marshall with guide Herbert K. Clark, was part of their effort to climb every Adirondack summit above 4,000 feet, a milestone in the origins of the Forty-Sixer tradition. The mountain is equally notable for a decades-long naming dispute rooted in earlier survey confusion and later debates over honoring living people. Officially adopted by New York in 1942 and federally standardized in 1972, it remains a relatively quiet summit reached by unmarked routes.
