Flathead Alps
Nature
The Flathead Alps are a small mountain range in western Montana that rise to 8,337 feet northeast of Seeley Lake. Located in northeastern Powell County, most of the range lies within the Bob Marshall Wilderness. Their name points to their rugged alpine character rather than to large scale. The range is part of the remote mountain country tied to the wilderness interior, and its place within the Bob Marshall Wilderness defines much of its present identity as a protected landscape known for undeveloped terrain and a strong backcountry character.
