Mount Teneriffe is a 1,459-meter peak on the western edge of Washington’s Cascade Range within Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Named after the Spanish island of Tenerife, it stands near Green Mountain and drains into tributaries of the Snoqualmie River. The mountain and its surroundings were formed over millions of years by uplift and faulting, then reshaped by repeated Pleistocene glaciation. A major glacial retreat beginning about 14,000 years ago helped create the deep valleys and U-shaped landforms nearby. Mount Teneriffe also reflects the region’s marine west coast climate, with Pacific weather bringing heavy precipitation and winter snowfall, while summers are often clearer.
