Seventy-Six Conservation Area in eastern Perry County, Missouri, was established in 1990 when the Missouri Conservation Department purchased a farm from a private owner. Covering 746 acres, it includes steep forested hills, deep hollows, narrow ridge fields, sinkholes, springs, rock bluffs, and views over the Mississippi River Valley. Its hardwood forest features oaks, tulip poplars, and some old-growth trees. The land also preserves the site of the former river community of Seventy-Six, which had dwindled to only a few residents by the 1950s and has since disappeared. Today the area serves as a demonstration site for forest and wildlife management and is also linked to river fishing.
