After the home built here by previous owners Rose and James Flood was destroyed during the 1906 earthquake, Dr. Harry Tevis built a mansion on the site. The Jesuits later used the mansion as faculty housing. Built in the California Bungalow style, it had an open floorplan and wood paneling throughout. The mansion burned to the ground on Christmas Eve, 1970, and only the carport survived.
