The Pagoda building and ten acres of land were given to the City of Reading by Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Mould on April 21, 1911, in memory of James Matz, carpenter-contractor and builder, and his sons Chas. E. and Jas. A. Matz, the designers of the Pagoda.
