Two Harbors Breakwater Light marks the entrance to Agate Bay’s harbor at the end of the eastern breakwater, embodying the engineering that made the bay a more protected port. Harbor improvements began in 1887 with breakwaters built from each shore, and the eastern structure was first lit in 1895 by a lantern on an iron post. After the breakwater was completed in 1902, a Pintsch gas lamp replaced that lantern, and in 1906 the present iron skeletal tower with its watch room and octagonal lantern was erected. Modernized in 1915 and briefly dark during breakwater extension work beginning in 1947, it returned in 1950 and remains an active aid to navigation.
