A statue dedicated on March 22, 2000 honored all who served to preserve freedom, with funding provided by Lou and Jack Finney, Dava and Leo Hackney, Billie and James Taggart, Paul Mathews, Gail and Phillip May, Lisa and Terry Turner, in memory of Sam Alexander, Fred Mehew, J.C. Murrell, Jerry Ransom, Dr. Randal Evans, Alliance Bank-Greenville, Jean and Al Lowenstein, Charles Helm, Benchmark Bank, Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville, Raytheon, New Car Dealer Assoc., and American National Bank; it was sculpted by Gordon Thomas, with Brett Thomas as apprentice.
