Chester State Park in South Carolina near the town of Chester centers on a 160-acre lake within 523 acres and preserves elements of its 1935 Civilian Conservation Corps development, including a stone spillway. The lake anchors much of the park’s recreation, with a 450-foot fishing pier, walking bridge, shoreline nature trail, boating access, and day-use areas with picnic shelters and a playground. Lakeview Hall provides an event space overlooking the water, and organized groups use a primitive camping area. Year-round camping is available at a 25-site campground, and since November 16, 2013, the park has included South Carolina State Parks’ first tournament-sanctioned 27-hole disc golf course.
